Antibiotics are physiologically active substances. Various antibiotics can generally act on pathogens at very low concentrations, which is another major characteristic that distinguishes antibiotics from other chemical fungicides. The effective concentration of various antibiotics on different microorganisms varies, and the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) that inhibits microbial growth is usually used as the antibacterial strength of antibiotics, abbreviated as effective concentration. The lower the effective concentration, the stronger the antibacterial effect. Antibiotics with effective concentrations above 100mg/L have lower potency, while antibiotics with effective concentrations below 1mg/L have higher potency.
