1. Antipyretic (cooling): reduces central PG synthesis, lowers the body temperature of febrile individuals, and has little effect on those with normal body temperature.
2. Analgesia: Due to its reduction in peripheral PG synthesis, it is effective for dull pain (inflammatory pain) such as headache, toothache, muscle pain, menstrual pain, joint pain, and neuralgia. It has no effect on other sudden pains, such as severe pain caused by trauma or stomach pain or abdominal pain caused by smooth muscle spasms (directly stimulating sensory nerve endings).
