Indications/Functional Indications
Carbetocin is used to prevent postpartum hemorrhage caused by weak uterine contractions.
Carbetocin is a kind of long-acting analogues of oxytocin with the properties of agonist. When a pregnant woman gives birth, a single intravenous injection of 100 micrograms of carbetocin is sufficient to maintain sufficient uterine contractions to prevent uterine weakness and excessive postpartum bleeding after delivery, and its effect is comparable to that of a continuous infusion of oxytocin for several hours.

Usage and dosage

Vaginal delivery: A single dose of 100 micrograms (1 ml) of carbetocin is given intravenously and slowly over 1 minute as a single dose of 100 micrograms (1 ml) intramuscularly.Carbetocin should be used as soon as possible after delivery of the fetus, or before delivery of the placenta. It should be used in hospitals with qualified medical conditions.Carbetocin is intended for single intravenous or intramuscular administration only.
Attention
Carbetocin is prohibited during pregnancy and before delivery of the fetus, and there is no need to restrict breastfeeding after using carbetocin. Carbetocin should not be used in children. Carbetocin is not recommended for older patients.
The following patients are prohibited from using this medication.
Carbetocin should not be given during pregnancy or before delivery of the fetus for any reason, including elective or medical induction of labor.
Allergic to carpetin, oxytocin, or excipients.
Carbetocin should not be used in children.
Severe cardiovascular disease.
Liver or kidney disease.
Epilepsy.
